Why Do We Do What We Do?

So, this week I was asked ‘why do you do what you do?’
Which got me thinking Momentum Performance Coaching is 12 years old, why Kevin and I began our journey with MPC? What we’ve achieved and what does the future hold?
If over the last 12 years you’ve been to one of our events, you will know that after Kevin left the Royal Navy, the hospitality industry beckoned. It’s a tough industry, with loooong hours and challenging (at times) customers. We made mistakes (so many mistakes), but learned how to get it ‘right’.
Here are some key statistics from that time; 12 of our team members went on to have their own businesses, 12 met and married their spouses, 13 children were born, our own daughter met her now husband and has just gifted us with our second granddaughter, just a few days ago.
I think, although I say it myself it’s fair to say we ‘made a difference’.
During the last 12 years I believe we’ve continued to ‘make a difference’. We’ve hosted 100s of workshops, presented to 1,000s of business people, worked with 100s of business owners and their teams, so what have we enabled our clients to do?

Increase profit, some for the very first time…
• Recruit and train team members (not an easy task which can be costly if you get it wrong)…
• Take control of their cashflow (which for some have kept them in business)…
• Spend more time with their partners (thus preventing divorce proceedings)…
• Be brave enough to increase their prices on a regular basis (some had not done that in years)…
• Work smarter, giving them time to focus on the things that are important to them…
• Become more attractive (enabling them to attract the right people in their business, customers, suppliers, employees)…
• Do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it (built trust and defined their reputation within their sector) …
• Become great communicators, talking in the right language to the right people…
I could go on but I’m sure you get the gist…
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to have built some truly amazing relationships, to become not just ‘coaches,’ but friends with our clients.
Just this week, I’ve been given two complements that confirm why I do what I do…
‘You’re worth your weight in gold’
‘I hope you realise without you our business would have gone years ago’
So what do the next 12 years hold for MPC?
We will continue to offer support, knowledge, accountability to each and every person who reaches out to us in whatever form is right for them, we will continue to ‘make a difference’.
