This week as promised I’m going to focus on the 4 T’s in business which is just 1 element of what I call the ‘Circle of Business’
I’ll cover the other elements in the coming weeks…
You see your business has just 1 role any ideas what that might be?
Its role is to give you the ‘Lifestyle’ you want that’s it, it really is that simple…
So, how many hours do you want to work, how much money do you want to make?
There is another element to ‘Lifestyle’ Health, but that’s a topic for another day…
So, your job and your only job, if you want a business that isn’t reliant on you, is to look after your #team…
I’ll go into what the #team‘s role is next week…
So how do you do that?
You apply the 4 T’s, #tools #training #targets #trust
#tools …
Does your team have the right tools to do a great job?
You might think that’s a stupid question and you might be surprised to hear just how often I’ve seen business owners not have the right tools in place for their next employee…
Does your team have the right training?
Is it kept up to date?
Is it available in various formats, ie visually, auditory, kinesthetically?
We all learn in different ways so does your training talk to your people in their language?
Does your team have targets?
Are they specific?
Are they measurable?
What gets measured gets managed and is achieved with the right training and tools…
#trust …
I think this is the most important of the T’s…
Can you trust your team to do a great job?
If you can’t then you’ve missed one of the first 3 T’s…
Which is not their fault it’s yours…
I’m sorry if that sounds brutal but the fact is it is your responsibility to ‘Empower’ your team…
Communication is the response you get, if you’re not getting the response you want it’s up to you to change your communication…
Of course, applying the 4 T’s will not make a bit of difference if you’ve employed the wrong person…
You may have employed a great person but they are not right for the role you need filling I’ve seen that happen so many times, so I would recommend you have a position agreement…
This is totally separate from your regular contract of employment that covers the ‘legal’ stuff this is a document that covers their daily, weekly, and monthly actions and assigns a % to each of those actions on a weekly basis…
Or…
You could simply not have recruited for the right role, you need to know what employing a person will do for you, and for your company this is critical. Not having this in place means you’re never going to be happy with the results you get from that person and again that is not their fault…
Your team is your most expensive asset it’s up to you to make sure you get a return on your investment…
If you need any help with this in your business give me a call, I’m here to help…
